frequently asked questions

Is there an app?

You can add this site to your phone's home screen, just like an app. It'll get its own icon and open full screen, with no address bar in the way.

Here's how to do it on an iPhone or an Android phone.

How do I sign in?

Four ways, and you don't have to pick one forever. You can have us email you a sign-in link, use a passkey, or continue with Google or Facebook. There's no password to invent or remember either way.

Signing in for the first time is what creates your account, with no separate sign-up step. If two of these share the same email address, they're treated as the same account, so you can start with one and use another later without losing your puzzle history.

What is passkey sign in?

Passkeys are a newer, simpler way to sign in without passwords. Instead of remembering a password, you authenticate with your device's built-in security, like Face ID, Touch ID, or your screen lock.

They're more secure than passwords because there's nothing to type, nothing to remember, and nothing that can be leaked in a data breach. Your passkey stays on your device and never leaves it.

How do group leaderboards work?

Groups let you compare puzzle times with friends. Create a group, send people the invite link, and you'll see each other's times on the group leaderboard. Anyone who opens the link is in.

The weekly scoreboard adds up points across all games over the last seven days. For each puzzle: 1st place gets 5 points, 2nd gets 3, 3rd gets 2, and completing the puzzle at any rank gets 1 point.

What wordlist do you use for word puzzles?

Word puzzles use a curated wordlist of common English words. Each word is scored for familiarity, and the generator only uses words above a quality threshold, so you shouldn't see anything too obscure or unfamiliar. If a word slips through that feels wrong, let me know on the contact page!

How can I support the site?

You can become a supporter with a $3/month subscription or a one-time donation, the price of one coffee. Your support helps keep the site ad-free and the puzzles coming every day.

How can I report a bug or share feedback?

Head over to the contact page and send me a message. I try to read everything and will get back to you if you include your email.

What data do you collect?

A username (which you can change anytime) and your puzzle statistics: things like completion times and streaks, which power your stats page and group leaderboards.

We also store your email address if you signed in with an email link, or with Google or Facebook where they share it. It's used to sign you in and to recognise you across sign-in methods, never for marketing. Signing in with a passkey involves no email at all.
